Her Circle Policy Statement on Our Work with Women and Trans People
Her Circle’s governing documents set out that the people who benefit from our services are women and mothers. The Supreme Court has ruled that, for the purposes of the Equality Act 2010, the terms “woman” and “sex” are defined by biological sex.
Following detailed consideration, the Board of Trustees has determined that Her Circle’s services are provided to women as defined under the Equality Act 2010.
Her Circle was founded to provide a specialist, woman-centred space for mothers navigating complex motherhood. Our programmes are built around the biological, social, and relational realities of women’s lives, including pregnancy, birth, postnatal recovery, infant feeding, and maternal mental health. This focus is central to the safety, integrity, and effectiveness of our services.
We believe strongly in compassion, dignity, and respect for all people. We recognise the experiences of trans parents and trans mothers. While they are not the focus of our charitable services, we remain committed to treating everyone we engage with respectfully and to signposting to appropriate support where needed.
Her Circle is proud to exist for women and mothers. Our mission remains unchanged: to provide a safe, specialist, and supportive space for women during one of the most complex and vulnerable periods of life.
