HerImpact

Changing systems through lived experience, advocacy and actions

We don't just support women.
We change the systems around them.

HerImpact turns insight into action. We challenge harmful structures and co-design better ones - with and for women navigating complex motherhood.

HerCircle Ascend

Women with lived experience driving system change

I use my traumatic experience of child removal to help other people. Which helps me to find some value in it.  It wasn't all for nothing.  I've used it for good.

Who We Are

Her Circle Ascend is an inspiring community of volunteers within Her Circle, made up of women who have and continue to, recovery from complex motherhood.

What We Do

Ascend empowers our women to enact change at a local, national and internation level by, informing research, engaging in activism and co-designing services. This group works in collaboration with universities, research institutions and public bodies to design and redesign the services women with multiple unmet need may access for support.

How We Do It

We elevate women's experiences in research to enhance understanding and foster meaningful improvements within systems. We believe that it is essential to listen not only to the lived experiences of adversity but also, and crucially, to the lived experiences of recovery. These insights should inform the redesign of systems.

Women play a crucial role in driving change within systems that have historically oppressed them, and it is essential to value their contributions. Therefore, all our partners commit to investing in women's development. We oppose an extraction model of research and advocate for co-investment in any co-design project.

Why We Do it

The group aims to use their experiences of trauma to help other women avoid similar outcomes. The name "Ascend" reflects their desire to rise above their challenges and create a positive ripple effect. Their goal is to develop solutions that can assist the next woman, ultimately building and growing until all women benefit.
